Heavy rain continued to wreak havoc in the district on Friday, with Muddebihal taluk receiving the highest rainfall of 65mm.

VIJAYAPURA: Heavy rain continued to wreak havoc in the district on Friday, with Muddebihal taluk receiving the highest rainfall of 65mm.
Deputy commissioner K B Shivakuamar said that no death was reported due to rain in the district.
"The highest number of houses were damaged in Muddebihal taluk. Four houses were destroyed in Shirol village, 5 in Gudadinni village and 2 in Gundakarcharchi village," said Shivakumar.

In Tangadagvi gram panchayat limits, 32 houses bore the brunt of the rain fury.
327 houses affected in Bagalkot district
As many as 327 houses in Bagalkot district were damaged due to heavy rain over the past three days. "Of the 327 houses, compensation has been issued to nearly 242 house owners. A total of 85 house owners are yet to receive the compensation amount," said deputy commissioner P A Meghannavar.
According to reports, 72 houses were damaged in Bagalkot taluk, 53 in Badami taluk, 32 in Hungund taluk, 46 in Jamakhandi taluk and 47 in Bilagi taluk. Malaprabha river is in spate due to the incessant rainfall. Jowar, sunflower and onion crops grown over 444 acres of land in 11 villages of Badami taluk have been damaged. "The final estimate of losses has not been calculated yet; it will be finalized after conducting a survey" the DC said.
