The new Rescue Pet Dog Show will benefit dogs like 5-year-old Buddy, who happens to have a great personality. He is fully trained, loves to snuggle and is good with other dogs. Email dconway1327@gmail.com if you are interested in meeting him. [Photo provided]

Kalin Home Furnishings has joined up with Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue for a new event, ‘The Rescue Pet Dog Show’ to benefit local animals in need.

The dog show will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, and rescue dogs and their owners will have a chance to come together to play, compete and win prizes. As well as having fun, the purpose is to showcase how wonderful shelter and rescue dogs are and that they come in all different breeds, ages, sizes, colors and make wonderful loving pets.

Not too long ago I overheard a conversation in a store where a couple approached a lady who had Yorkshire Terrier in a basket. They admired the dog and asked her where she got him. She proudly announced, “From Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue!” The couple was quite genuinely surprised and said they had no idea you could get dogs like that from a rescue or shelter.

Regardless of breed, from bully breeds, mixed breeds, to toy poodles, or working dogs like hounds, sadly animal abandonment, and abuse knows now social, economic or breed boundaries; all types of dogs end up in shelters and rescues. Most are well-behaved, loving pets, who for one reason or another have found themselves without a home and needing a new one.

If you have a rescue dog or dogs that you are excited to show off to our community and also want the chance to win a cool ribbon and have some fun competition with other rescue dog owners then please sign up to participate in the show.

Dogs and their owners will have the chance to compete in 13 categories and win ribbons. Best in show will receive a Rachael Ray Dog Bed valued at $700. Also at the show will be food trucks, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, pet industry experts, pet products and vendors, and most importantly adoptable dogs!
