NEMA donates relief materials to flood victims in Kebbi

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says it has provided relief assistance to the recent Kebbi state flood victims.

About 100 households were affected by the flood in Dole-Kaina Area of Dandi Local Government Area of the state sometime in September.

The Director-in-charge of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Paul Ohenmu, who presented the relief materials to the victims in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, said the assistance was meant to alleviate their sufferings.

“This is just a token to alleviate your suffering; we know that it will not be enough to take care of the disaster, but just for you to know that the Federal Government sympathises with you.”

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar, thanked the Federal Government for its love and concern for victims of the disaster.

The items provided included 750 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,000 pieces of textile materials, 2,000 blankets, 1,000 ceiling boards and 1,200 bags of cement.

Others are 500 mattresses, 1,000 bags of Guinea corn, 1,000 bundles of brocade materials, 1,000 rubber mats and 2,000 cartons of detergent.
