Verbica top Masters woman at Lake Tahoe Trifecta >> Tiffany Verbica of Felton placed as the top Masters woman after running three half marathons last weekend during the Lake Tahoe Trifecta.
Verbica, 41, finished as the second woman and first Masters woman in the Nevada Half Marathon on Friday. She narrowly avoided a highway closure that caused some of the field to make detour or hitchhike around an impasse and finished in 1 hour, 46 minutes, 16 seconds.
In the Carnelian Bay Half Marathon on Saturday, Verbica avoided a mother bear and her cubs, which made their way onto the course after she had passed, and finished in 1:48:54 as the top Masters woman. Finally, on Sunday, she competed in the Emerald Bay Half Marathon. Due to a chip malfunction, results for that race are not available.
