Cops rescue Rohtas businessman, recover Rs30 lakh ransom
Patna: The special task force (STF) and district police on Tuesday rescued businessman Dudheshwar Sah (65) from Pipradih under the Rohtas police station area and recovered Rs30 lakh ransom which his family members had paid to the kidnappers. Sah was kidnapped on Wednesday last during a morning walk near Nasriganj market under the same police station area.
Seven persons, including mastermind Ashok Master alias Ashok Sao and ward member of Rasoolpur panchayat in Rohtas, Shatrughan Paswan, in whose house Sah was kept, were arrested.
Ashok was known to Sah’s family.
STF sources said Sah’s family had paid Rs27 lakh to the kidnappers earlier and the remaining Rs3 lakh of the ransom amount along with a gold ring was dropped in a field under the Indrapuri police station area in the district. “The STF and district police laid a trap and arrested two gang members when they came to pick up the amount. On their information, Sah was rescued and the other five were arrested,” a police source said and added that Rs27 lakh was recovered from Ashok’s residence at Dehri-on-Sone.
Rohtas SP Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said Ashok planned the kidnapping on an information that Sah had received Rs10 crore compensation against his land acquired by the government for an approach road to Nasriganj-Daudnagar bridge over Sone river.
“However, Sah had received only one-tenth of the compensation amount due to litigation with his brothers,” the SP said and added that the kidnappers had earlier demanded Rs2 crore as ransom.
