LHC Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LHCG), a national provider of home health, hospice, and comprehensive post-acute healthcare services, saw more than two-thirds of its locations across the nation named among the nation’s best as part of the 2017 HomeCare Elite®, a recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States.

For 12 years, HomeCare Elite has identified the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies and highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. The ranking is developed by ABILITY® Network, a leading information technology company helping providers and payers simplify the administrative and clinical complexities of healthcare; and sponsored by DecisionHealth, publisher of Home Health Line and the Complete Home Health ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Manual.

“In an industry that is rapidly moving toward a value-based model that identifies quality as the top differentiator, we couldn’t be more proud of our teams of caregivers around the country for their hard work and tireless efforts in achieving this recognition,” said Keith Myers, LHC Group chairman and CEO. “Respected and independent evaluations – such as HomeCare Elite – provide a great indicator of how our company-wide emphasis on quality and service to patients is paying off, and clearly demonstrate that LHC Group is poised to lead the post-acute care industry as we move forward.”

LHC Group’s 2017 achievements saw 71 percent – 217 of 307 -- of the company’s home health locations recognized:

  • In 2017, a total of 217 LHC Group locations qualified for HomeCare Elite status.
  • 56 of those locations were recognized as top 500.
  • 21 locations were recognized as top 100.

“It is truly admirable how LHC Group has continued to raise its HomeCare Elite representation year-after-year,” said Christine Lang, senior director at ABILITY. “This year is no exception – the 2017 showing is remarkable and something to be proud of. We are honored to play a part in recognizing their outstanding efforts.”

HomeCare Elite agencies are determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, best practices implementation, patient experience (HHCAHPS), quality improvement and consistency, and financial health. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least three outcomes in Home Health Compare. Out of 9,064 agencies considered, 2,268 are recognized on the 2017 HomeCare Elite winners list overall.
