Retiring TV news reporters lauded by Mercer County (PHOTOS)

TRENTON -- Action News' Nora Muchanic and Andy Doane have long been respected among their peers and many of the officials they've covered for the Philadelphia newes station the past 30 years.

On Tuesday night, Mercer County politicians made it official, honoring the Trenton-based reporter and cameraman with a resolution from the Mercer County Board of Freeholders.

Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes attended as well to honor Muchanic and Doane, who announced last month they are retiring on the same day, Oct. 31.

Muchanic will wrap-up a 31-year career at the station, all in the Trenton office, and Doane will cap 40 years at the ABC affiliate, the past 30 in Trenton as Muchanic's camera operator.

The resolution praises their, "valuable service to the Mercer County community through their compelling storytelling and their fair and accurate reporting of the news.

And that they've, "earned the respect of viewers interviewees alike by maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity."

The resolution concludes:

"Whereas, Nora Muchanic and Andy Doane have been a familiar and welcome presence in Mercer County and will be greatly missed upon their retirement...the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders congratulate Nora Muchanic and Andy Doane on their retirement from Channel 6 Action News, commend them for their contributions to the Mercer County community, and wish them the best in their future endeavors."
