Seven persons died in three separate road accidents in Punjab on Saturday. Three persons of a family, a couple and their daughter, died after their Swift car collided with a Punjab Roadways bus on Ludhiana-Chandigarh road near Sandali Darwaaza Resorts. The deceased were identified as Gurjinder Singh (45), his wife Anuradha (45) and their daughter Lovepreet (14).
Their two sons, Onkar (7) and Manpreet (12), have been admitted in serious condition at the CMCH and Fortis Hospital in Ludhiana, respectively. They were from village Silon of Ludhiana. ASI Paramjit Singh, who is Katani Kalan chowki in-charge, said the bus driver fled the spot after hitting the Swift car. He said the bus was speeding when it hit the car. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
In another mishap in Sangrur, two persons of a family and a motorbike driver died when a Zen car first hit a motorbike and then a Punjab Roadways bus on Patiala-Sangrur road near the village Bhindran.
As per Sangrur police, the motorbike driver had taken a wrong turn. In a bid to save him, the Zen car coming from behind first hit the bike and then a bus which was already there on another side dropping some passengers. The deceased were identified as Ajit Singh and his son Ramandeep Singh from Patiala. They were travelling in the car. The motorbike driver, identified has Harwinder Singh of village Bhindran of Sangrur, also died.
In the third case, a 35-year-old man died after a speeding car hit his motorcycle at Ludhiana-Ferozepur road near Dakha on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Jagjit Singh of village Buggipura of Moga. Eyewitnesses said that the speed of car was so high that it dragged the victim around 25 meters on the road after hitting it. After the incident, driver of the car fled leaving vehicle on the spot.
