Lecturer caught beating students on cam

A lecturer of Deeksha IIT & AIEEE Academy in Nandigama town of Krishna district was caught on camera whipping students for failing to complete work assigned to them.

VIJAYAWADA: A lecturer of Deeksha IIT & AIEEE Academy in Nandigama town of Krishna district was caught on camera whipping students for failing to complete work assigned to them. Though the incident took place in August, it came to light after the video was leaked to a local human rights organisation, which shared the clip on various Whatsapp groups leading to it going viral.According to Nandigama circle inspector PV Ramana Kumar, the lecturer, Jonnalagadda Srinivas Prasad, was removed from the college when a few students complained to the institute’s principal Syed Mohammad Haneef about the incident.

It is understood that a student shared the video with several of his contacts and the rights organisation to show the public how students were being treated in the institute. In the two-and-half-minute video, Srinivas is seen thrashing students with a stick.“We conducted an inquiry after taking cognizance of the incident. The lecturer was sacked on September 10 after complaints poured in on his arrogant behaviour,” said principal.

Reacting to the incident, Krishna district collector B Lakshmkiantham directed the district education officer and the tehsildar to take severe action against the college. “Officials visited the college and cancelled its licence. Meanwhile, a criminal case was lodged against Srinivas in Nandigama police station,” said the collector.

Second year engineering student ends life
Kakinada:
A second year engineering student committed suicide at Velamala Turangi, Kakinada Rural Mandal in East Godavari District on Tuesday. According to sources, B Lalith Pratyush (18) was studying B. Tech 2nd year in Aditya Engineering College at Surampalem in Peddapuram Mandal. He hanged himself at his residence at Velamala Turangi. Pratyush’s father Jogarao is working as Lab Technician in Government General Hospital Kakinada. The reason for suicide is not known. No case has been filed in this regard.

Student suffers hairline fracture after being beaten by schoolteacher 
Visakhapatnam:
A six-year-old student reportedly suffered a hairline fracture on her hand after she was beaten up by her schoolteacher for not doing homework, at a private school at Vaddadi of Butchayyapeta mandal on Tuesday. The incident came to light after the parents of the girl reached the school and entered into heated arguments with the management.

According to the parents, Pooja Pallavi, a UKG student, returned from school on Monday evening with a swelling on her right hand. She told her father Nagesh, an auto-rickshaw driver,  that she was beaten up for not doing homework. Nagesh took her to a hospital where the doctor suggested an X-ray.  “We got the X-ray done at Chodavaram and the report confirmed a hairline fracture,” Nagesh told the media.
