Investigation into the murders of four women and a security guard inside a mansion in Man Sarovar Park has revealed that one of the relatives of the women was in touch with some northeast Delhi-based criminals. Investigators are now probing their role, and collecting evidence against them, police sources said. Urmila Jindal (82) and her three daughters — Sangeeta (52), Nupur (48), and Anjali (45) — were found murdered in a room inside their mansion on the morning of October 6. The security guard’s body was found in the parking lot.

Sources told The Indian Express that police have questioned over 100 people, including the 40-odd family members, relatives and friends of the victims. “Recently, it came to light that one of the victim’s relatives was in constant touch with some northeast Delhi-based criminals. Few months ago, with the help of these criminals, the suspected relative allegedly evacuated some disputed property in Delhi,” sources said.

However, investigating officers claimed that they are facing a hard time summoning the relative for questioning. Sources said several teams have been formed to trace these absconding northeast Delhi-based criminals, and police are conducting raids to nab them.

“Senior officials have asked their investigating team to first nab these criminals and gather evidence against the suspect. After that, he will be called for questioning,” sources said. Police have, so far, found that the attackers targeted the lockers, where property-related documents were kept. “Investigation, so far, revealed that assailants made a friendly entry and later it turned into a scuffle. The way in which the attackers stabbed the women and the security guard makes it seem that they wanted to ensure all of them are dead. Every person, including the guard, had more than eight wounds on their bodies,” a senior police officer, privy to the investigation, said.

The assailants allegedly broke the locker, where Urmila’s younger daughter Anjali kept all property-related documents,. Some documents were found missing, the officer added. “Urmila used to own properties in and around the mansion. She also owned a property in Ghaziabad. They used to get over Rs 1 lakh per month as rent and Anjali took care of it,” the officer added.
