New Thor: Ragnarok Video Amusingly Explains The Apocalyptic Event

Despite the fact that Thor: Ragnarok is pretty much a full-on comedy (and a hilarious one at that), we can't forget that it's also technically about the apocalypse. In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the end of all things, and in the movie Hela's goal is to make sure that that's what happens to Asgard. It's safe to say that not every moviegoer is up on their Norse mythology, but Marvel has got it covered, and has released a fun video attempting to explain the apocalyptic event. We assure you, it's much more fun than it is informative. Enjoy!

It's less than one week until Thor: Ragnarok, and Marvel is going all in promoting its latest blockbuster. Marvel Studios took to Twitter and released a video explaining the apocalyptic event at the heart of the movie's conflict. It stars Chris Hemsworth attempting to explain what Ragnarok is, but before he can take a deep dive into explaining realms and world trees, his co-star Mark Ruffalo jumps in to interrupt him. It turns out that they know someone a lot better equipped to narrate hardcore fantasy: Cate Blanchett.

In addition to playing the Goddess of Death Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, Cate Blanchett has some experience in fantasy. She notably played the elf Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings movies, where she made ominous and intense voice-overs about dark magic and chaos look easy. Blanchett once again summons her inner Galadriel in the above video, explaining Ragnarok with buzzwords like "chaos" and "fire." It even leaves Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in awe!

It's a fun video, which is just par the course for Thor: Ragnarok. The Taika Waititi-helmed blockbuster is getting some rave reviews right now, and it's even the best-received Marvel movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes. So far, Ragnarok is tracking to have a domestic opening of over $100 million and the film has already put away over $28 million in international markets. The movie has gotten lots of praise for its sense of humor, with several calling it the best of the Thor movies. The performances have also been highlighted, with a special mention being given Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and, of course, Jeff Goldblum.

Thor: Ragnarok is just less than a week away and will arrive in theaters on November 3. If you have not done so already, make sure to pre-order your tickets!
