BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made several announcements, including the decision to set up science parks in all district headquarters. Making the announcements in the Collectors’ conference here, the Chief Minister said all flouride affected villages in Nuapada district will be provided with water filters. About 300 villages will be benefited, he said. Besides, chemotherapy facilities will be expanded to places where the incidence is more, he said and added that as many as 121 dialysis units will be dispatched to all the districts. The Government will sanction seven railway under-passes for Koraput district, he said.

Stating that mega pipe water supply will be launched in salinity-affected areas of Bhadrak, Puri and Kendrapara districts, Naveen said sanction of pension for constructions workers will be decentralised to district level. He said defunct lift irrigation points will be repaired on a priority basis in the areas affected by dry spell in 15 districts.

Puri district will have a separate protocol wing so that administration can focus on development works, the Chief Minister said and added that the Corpus Fund in health which is given for KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) districts will be extended to all tribal districts.He directed the secretaries and senior district officials to undertake periodic field visits for ensuring proper implementation of government schemes. He asked the secretaries to visit districts that come under their supervision for at least four days in the first week of a month and assess the status of the development programmes.

“To ensure proper implementation of Government schemes and actual delivery of services to the people, it is important that all supervisory officers, right from the heads of the departments to block-level extension functionaries, undertake intensive field visits,” he said.Stating that the next monsoon was eight months away, the Chief Minister said the time should be utilised to speed up execution of development works. Naveen said he would specifically review the status of the projects after one month.
