DENVER, Colo – A two year old will spend the rest of their life without their father.

Issiah Martinez, 23, was found dead Monday afternoon in a parking lot in the 4900 block of East Warren Avenue – just south of where I-25 and Evans Ave. intersect.

Police originally treated the scene as a death investigation, but said Friday they were investigating it as a homicide.

Martinez’s family on Sunday night held a vigil to remember Martinez. The vigil was held at the apartment complex where Martinez was found dead.

Denver7 spoke to the  family Martinez. According to the family, Martinez was a father of a two year old child and a husband. The family said they still want answers as to what happened that night.

“We’re hoping to get those answers soon,” said Angela Garcia, Martinez’s sister. “We just want to know what happened in his final moments. All police were able to tell us is that they made an arrest. He was a bright kid. He didn’t deserve this.”

Denver7 has not confirmed with Denver Police whether it made an arrest in the case.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who “had recent contact” with Martinez or information about his death to call 720-913-7867.

Information leading to the arrest and prosection of a suspect could be eligible for a reward pof up to $2,000.
