UP minister’s driver arrested for Gonda hit and run case
LUCKNOW: Gonda police on Monday arrested the errant driver responsible for mowing down the minor boy on Saturday evening. According to police, it was cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar’s own driver who had killed the Gosainpurwa village resident, Shiva.
Station house officer of Colonelganj police station, Sadanand Singh said that Ram Jeet Rajbhar had been arrested and Toyota Innova bearing registration number UP60 AD 9567 had been also taken into custody.
Rajbhar was present in the SUV when the incident took place and Ram Jeet was at the wheels, when the boy was knocked down.
Sadanand Singh said IPC section 279 and 304A have been pressed against Ram Jeet and forensic team would be summoned to examine the vehicle. BJP government had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased boy.
Though minister Rajbhar was denying his vehicle was involved in the incident till Sunday night, after his driver's arrest he stated, “I wanted to cooperate with the police investigations and hence asked the driver to surrender.” Sadanand meanwhile stressed that evidence pointed towards involvement of minister’s SUV in the episode.
