SASARAM: An assistant commissioner and an inspector of the excise department were placed under suspension on Monday following the Rohtas hooch tragedy which claimed four lives last Saturday.
Assistant commissioner Kishor Kumar Sah and Bikramganj inspector Raj Kishor Prasad Singh were suspended for negligence of duty following a recommendation of Rohtas district magistrate (DM) Animesh Kumar Parashar.

Sources in the district administration said that axe is also likely to fall on some senior police officers of the district also. Earlier, soon after the tragedy at Danawar village under Kachhawa police station area, altogether, nine police personnel, including SHO Mukesh Kumar of Kachhawa police station were placed under suspension.
The four deceased were Kamlesh Singh (30), Uday Singh (32), Dhanjee Singh (32) and Harihar Singh (50). Meanwhile, the Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) patron and Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Monday demanded action against the DM and the SP also for the tragedy.
He, after consoling the family members of the deceased, alleged that the state government was making junior officers of the police and the excise departments scapegoat in the tragedy by suspending them. “CM Nitish Kumar should have sticked to his commitment that DMs and SPs would be held responsible in case of hooch deaths in the state,” said the JAP chief.
Meanwhile, SP MS Dhillon said raids are on to arrest the accused in the case.
