AAP MLA from Chandni Chowk Alka Lamba was allegedly attacked during an election rally at Bijnor, where she had been campaigning for the party’s candidate Mohammad Rashid for the upcoming urban local body polls.

As per the party, the incident took place on Wednesday evening at a rally where Lamba spoke. AAP leader Dilip Pandey said, “During the rally, an unidentified individual threw a stone that had been wrapped in aluminium foil. It hit her on the head.” Party leaders added that the incident took place after the speakers had finished addressing the public and Lamba was getting off the stage.

While the party alleged that the attack had been done at the behest of “opposition elements”, Lamba – who was scheduled to speak at further events – returned to Delhi after the incident due to “serious injuries”, said leaders.

As per the office of the Superintendent of Police (Bijnore) “no complaint has been received in the case yet”. An officer added, “Once we receive the complaint, we will investigate the matter.”
