Six hurt as mob attacks thana in West Champaran
BEGUSARAI: The district administration on Thursday launched an anti-encroachment drive.
The move was welcomed by the residents as heavy encroachment by roadside vendors, makeshift shopowners has virtually turned the roads into narrow lanes leading to frequent and severe traffic congestion, especiallu during peak hours.
To begin with, Begusarai DM Mohd Naushad Yusuf and SP Aditya Kumar accompanied by a large contingent of police force besides other senior officials and Begusarai Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers launched the drive from near the Begusarai railway station area on NH-31 where the road is heavily encroached by roadside vendors.

The DM ordered the forces to ensure that the vendors were pushed behind the demarcation line. Besides, several unauthorized temporary structures were also removed on the occasion.
Requesting city residents to cooperate in the move for maintaining a smooth traffic system, the DM said, “The anti-encroachment drive would continue in coming days and cover other areas of the town also.” He even warned legal action against repeated offenders.
Heavy encroachment on most of the city roads often lead to severe traffic snarls causing great hardship to office goers, school going children besides common man.
