A drunk resident of the northern Israeli city of Nazareth, which is an important tourist attraction for Christian pilgrims, was arrested by police after he assaulted and threatened tourists with a toy gun.This is but one of the many actions taken by the police during the last two weeks to ensure that normative citizens living in Nazareth will enjoy a greater standard of safety and personal security.36,000 smuggled eggs without sanitary approval stamps, and some with forged stamps, were caught by the police and destroyed to ensure public health.A quarter-ton of smuggled meat was discovered in two butcher’s shops and dealt with in a similar manner.Two hundred traffic tickets were issued during these two weeks and 30 vehicles that were illegally modified caught, two scooters that were stolen from city residents were discovered.Two home-made rifles were discovered and their owners arrested.The police said that will continue to conduct such short-term operations to ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens and increase the safety of the general public.
