There's nothing like an Easter Egg to get video game fans excited – and someone has found a little reference in Assassin's Creed: Originsthat will please Doctor Who fans.

Yes, even though the games has only been out for just over a week, one eagle-eyed player has found the actual TARDIS.

Fittingly, the Assassin's Creed franchise is about as timey-wimey as the hit BBC series, and Origins sees players take a huge leap backwards in time all the way to the Ptolemaic period (between 323BC and 30AD.

The game is set in Ancient Egypt and recounts the fictional history of real-world events, including the story of the original Brotherhood of Assassins.

But Assassin's Creed fans already know all this, so how can you find this little Doctor Who reference yourself? Well, the TARDIS is underwater off the coast of Ancient Egypt, so get searching.

There's no clue as to what happened to the Doctor, whatever incarnation he might have been in, nor his companions – well, besides the legs sticking out of the bottom, which doesn't bode well –so we can only guess that a trip back in time left them in trouble with Cleopatra.

If you want to see the Easter Egg for yourself, one helpful player has even created a video to help you find the TARDIS right here for you:
