Stephen Hendry has hit out at thieves who stole his prized golf clubs from his car.

The snooker legend, who won seven world titles, described the robbers as “the dregs of humanity” after discovering that they had swiped the clubs from his car.

The theft happened in Sunninghill, Berkshire, on Tuesday near the home Hendry shares with actress girlfriend Lauren Thundow.

Hendry, 48, took to social media in a bid catch the culprits.

The Edinburgh-born star wrote on Twitter: “If anyone in Ascot area gets offered a set of golf clubs with a red Nike driver, they’re mine.

“Some dregs of humanity robbed them from my car this morning.”

Fans of Hendry were quick to offer sympathy. Derek Savage wrote: “Shocking Stephen. I hope you get them back safely. I’ve shared on Facebook for you.”

But his snooker player pal Matthew Selt was less sympathetic.

He wrote: “You’ve had a result, they were produced in 1995.

“I hope they also took your glove that you wear when you putt #disgusting.”

Hendry, who now works as a snooker commentator, is a keen golfer and once played off a handicap of five.
