Coming up: Over 20,000 homes by DDA at Vasant Kunj, Narela, Rohini

A DDA senior official said the land owning agency had earlier planned to build about 16,000 houses. However, acting on the instructions of the then Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu — who, during the launch of the 2017 scheme on June 30, had said the DDA should build one lakh houses by 2022 — a fresh list has been drawn.
Unlike the present scheme, in which most flats were returned by buyers, the new housing scheme will have fresh flats, he added. The land owning agency was criticised as the present housing scheme reportedly did not have proper civic amenities and transport facilities.

The 2018 housing scheme will have 268 MIG houses and 94 LIG houses in Vasant Kunj on Mehrauli-Mahipalpur Road. Another 416 HIG houses will also come up on the same location, officials said. Besides, 311 MIG houses and 125 LIG houses will come up near Sultanpur tomb and 72 HIG flats will be constructed near Sector B, Pocket 2, in Vasant Kunj. In Narela and Rohini, the DDA will build 16,077 LIG flats and 3,624 Janta flats, he added.

DDA Commissioner, housing, J P Agarwal said the DDA is hopeful of completing the construction of these houses by March, after which other decisions will be taken. The draw of lots for the 2017 housing scheme will be held in November and possession will be given by December-end.
