A six-year-old boy was killed and eight other children were injured when a KSRTC bus collided with their school vehicle at Maralavadi, Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district, on Thursday morning.

BENGALURU: A six-year-old boy was killed and eight other children were injured when a KSRTC bus collided with their school vehicle at Maralavadi, Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district, on Thursday morning.
The victim is Charan Ganesh, son of agriculturist Ganesh of Gendegowdana Doddi village, near Maralavadi. The accident happened at 9.45 am on Harohalli Road when the bus was 1km away from the school, police said.
Charan and the other injured children were students of Annapurna Gurukula School in Maralavadi.
There were 12studentsin the vehicle. Hitesh Gowda, 8, Likhith Gowda, 4, Harasha M, 5, Manasa Ramakrishna, 7, Deepu, 10, Divya K, 11, Sharath Kumar, 5 and Hemachandra sustained injuries and were shifted to Ramanagara hospital.
“The impact of the collision was so severe that the top half of the minibus ferrying the children was ripped off. The KSRTC bus pushed the school vehicle for 100 metres. It rammed a tree and came to a stop,” cops said.
“Charan was sitting in the front seat and took the brunt of the impact. He died of head injuries,” cops said.
Police have detained both drivers Danappa and Rajashekhar.
