Rahul Gandhi ‘shayari skills’ are surely getting sharper even as the Gujarat poll battle is getting intense. In the latest salvo the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has targetted Prime Minister Modi and his promises that he is yet to deliver on. Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Modi by saying that the BJP promised 50 lakh houses for the poor in Gujarat ahead of the Assembly election in 2012 but in the last five years only 4.72 lakh houses have been constructed. At his sarcastic best, Rahul asked Narendra Modi if the government would take another 45 years to fulfil the promise. “22 salon ka hisaab, Gujarat mange jawaab. Gujarat ke halaat par pradhan mantri ji se pehla sawaal: 2012 main vada kiya ki 50 lakh naye ghar denge. 5 saal main banaye 4.72 lakh ghar. Pradhan mantri ji bataiye ki kya ye vada pura hone mein 45 saal aur lagenge,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted ahead of his election rallies in the state today.” It must be noted that the BJP, in its manifesto for the 2012 election in Gujarat, promised 50 lakh ‘pucca’ houses in the next five years. The manifesto was unveiled by then chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi.
The soon-to-be-elevated to presidency, Congress vice-president has been making news for his one-liners and tweets on the BJP government for some time. Rahul Gandhi has been frequently hitting strongly at the incompetence of the BJP leadership citing the failure of demonetisation, GST and the rising crimes of intolerance against the Dalits and Muslims over the years. Both Modi and Rahul will hit the campaign trail in Gujarat today. Modi will address rallies in Morbi and Prachi villages near Somnath, Palitana in Bhavnagar and at Navsari in south Gujarat. He had launched a campaign blitzkrieg on Monday, addressing four election rallies in different parts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat. Rahul will also be in Gujarat on a two-day campaign tour. He will kick off the current trip with a visit to the famous Somnath temple.
The two-phased Gujarat elections will take place on December 9 and 14. The counting of votes and results will be declared on December 18.
