New Delhi, Dec 5 (KNN) In an attempt to boost sales of khadi in the region, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena recently inaugurated a modern Khadi India outlet in the Badol District of Bagpat.

KVIC Chairman Saxena in a tweet from his official twitter handle informed about the inauguration.

Saxena informed that with the outlet in place, it marks a good beginning for the fabric and it reaching small towns.

The outlet comes in line with a set of initiatives recently introduced by the KVIC to boost the sales of the fabric. Also earlier, , the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of Micro, Small and medium Enterprises (MSME) announced its plan is to open up its outlets abroad in cities including Dubai and Paris by end of this year.

The khadi sales in the recent times have registered growth in sales up to 70 per cent. In 2016-17, the KVIC registered sales of 2, 0005 crores while the sale from 2015-16 was around 1,520 crores. The KVIC has set a target of achieving 5000 crore mark in sales by the end of 2018-19.
