MANGALURU: The police department has placed restrictions on any religious, political and social gatherings in four taluks under Dakshina Kannada district for 18 hours from 6am on December 6.
The move has come in the wake of any attempt to hold any event to mark the anniversary as a black day or to celebrate the same.
The curbs have been ordered under section 35 of the Karnataka Police Act that bars open meetings, processions, jathas, dharnas, protests, rasta-rokos and any attempts to lay siege to government or other private properties.

Senior police officials said that the police force of the two units have been kept in full readiness to deal with any attempts to vitiate law and order situation.
