Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The ensemble cast of Nashville continues to navigate the country music business in the new trailer for the sixth and final season of the drama.

The clip, released Thursday, features Hayden Panettiere's Juliette Barnes struggling with depression as she faces fan backlash over the song she stole in Season 5.

"I don't think I feel like singing. I just need to stop," Juliette says onstage as she stops in the middle of a performance.

The star then meets Darius (Josh Stamberg), a mysterious founder of a self-actualization movement who offers to help Juliette.

Other Season 6 developments featured in the trailer include Will (Chris Carmack), Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) forming their own band; Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar having relationship issues; and Maddie (Lennon Stella), meeting a pop star named Jonah Ford (Nic Luken.)

"Every journey has a destination. Every song has a final verse," reads the synopsis for the final season.

Nashville returns to CMT on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET.
