VARANASI: Two women, including an elderly Congress worker Leelavati Chaubey, were found murdered inside their house in Nirala Nagar locality under Kotwali police station in Ballia district on Saturday morning.
According to reports, Leelavati, a widow, owned a house in Nirala Nagar locality where she dwelt alone as her two adopted sons lived at some other place. One more woman, aged around 42, had also started dwelling at the first floor of her house for the past few years.
On Saturday morning their milkman knocked the doors of the house but on finding no response, he pulled it to enter when he saw the bodies of both women lying in a pool of blood.
The milkman raised an alarm after which people from nearby houses gathered there and reported the matter to police. News of double murder brought the officials on their toes as apart from SP Ballia Anil Kumar, the DIG Azamgarh range Vijay Bhushan also reached the incident site. Following initial investigation and going through the call details, Kumar said both women were murdered by hitting their heads with iron roads or stick and the scene of their house said it all that it was a pure murder case as no bid of loot or theft was made by the killer.
The officials said that adopted sons of Leelavati had been informed about the incident while efforts are being made to ascertain the identity of woman who dwelt with her. Kumar said that outcomes of initial investigation indicated involvement of a person, who was familiar to both women, in this incident. Officials claimed that the case would be worked out and motive behind their killing would also become clear very soon. The bodies were sent for postmortem after lodging an FIR on the complaint given by Leelavati’s sister, who said that the deceased had been an active member of the Congress.
