Ghana star Christian Atsu has lauded Newcastle United’s medical team after making a return from injury over the weekend.

According to Atsu, he expected to sidelined until February with a torn thigh muscle but due to the hard work of Magpies medical team, he has made a quick return to action.

The winger sustained the injury initially in the 1-0 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth but then aggravated the problem while on international duty last month.

Atsu, whose absence from the Newcastle team had coincided with a bad run of results, returned to the action against Leicester City after coming off the bench.

“It was supposed to be a three-month layoff, but thanks to the doctor and medical team, and their treatment, they worked so hard to help me recover quickly.

“I am pleased it’s behind me now.

“I always want to play and give everything I can for this club.

“When I get injured I get very upset, but I’m very happy to be back now and able to give my best.”
