KHAGARIA: The ambitious mega food park, coming up in Ekaniya village on the outskirts of Khagaria town under an initiative of the Union ministry of food processing industries, is likely to be ready within a year.
Union minister for food processing industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal, her junior minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha had jointly laid the stone of the project on August 6, 2015.

Sources said the food park over an area of 70 acres was likely to be completed by the end of next year. The project is being executed by the Pristine Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd under an agreement with the Union ministry.
The sources said the food park would have facilities such as warehouses, cold storages, quick freezing units and testing labs. It will have processing units for maize, fruits and vegetables, flour mills, poultry feed units and riverine food processing units.
A rail-linked freight terminal is also under construction to ensure smooth transportation of the raw materials and finished products, said the sources.
