Tory Anna Soubry said that she and Theresa May had something in common in that they were both difficult women.

This could not be applied, she said, to fellow Tory Dominic Grieve despite him causing the PM some Brexit difficulties - on account of him being a man.

It was the only laugh today in what was an otherwise serious PMQs .

Labour’s Caroline Flint told Mrs May she didn’t have a clue about something that was lost in MPs yelling at her.

Soubry: difficult

It turned out to be bank closures in Ms Flint’s constituency. Mrs May does not indeed have a clue about such things.

The security bubble which envelopes her means she never has to set foot in a bank.

So she blamed closures on less demand for them. This was not a helpful reply.

Now was she helpful to Jeremy Corbyn when he said homelessness was up fifty per cent under the Tories and rough sleeping had doubled.

Corbyn: wanted promises

The Labour leader wanted a promise that by next Christmas there would be fewer than the 128,000 children without a roof over their head this Christmas. Mrs May would not give one.

He asked if she would support three year tenancies to give private renters more security. No, she wouldn't.

Would she make good on her promise to build more social housing. No, she wouldn't do that either.

In frustration, Mr Corbyn tried: "Does the PM support homes fit for human habitation?"

Yes, she does!

But there was no promise to do very much about it.
