The Lagos State Government has urged Lagosians who patronise government-owned hospitals to give feedback to government in order to enhance services.

The government also enjoined them to always insist on quality services.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, stated this at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, with the theme, ‘Improving Quality of Healthcare Delivery.’

Idris, who was represented by a Service Improvement Officer in the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Joan Oluyemi, noted that the satisfaction of patients should be the priority of every hospital in the state.

He said the government’s determination to provide satisfactory services to Lagosians informed the Service Charter initiative in the Lagos State Public Service.

The commissioner said, “The government is desirous of further improving health-care delivery to the citizenry, which is why the state Health Insurance Scheme has been slated to kick off next year.

“Also, the training and retraining of medical personnel by the state government have assisted in enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in the state health sector.”

Earlier, the Medical Director of the Alimosho General Hospital, Dr Madewa Adebajo, said the forum underscored the government’s interest in the health sector.

He advised Nigerians to imbibe a good diet culture, exercise regularly and had a checkup at least once in a year.

The representative of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr Adewale Adebiyi, said for the nation’s health-care delivery system to be effective, attention must be paid to workers’ attitude, while more competent medical personnel must be employed.
