Kerry Katona paid tribute to her "amazing" co-stars as she was forced to pull out of her pantomime due to sickness.

The former Atomic Kitten star is playing the evil queen in Sleeping Beauty at Manchester's Middleton Arena, but missed a show yesterday after she fell ill.

The singer took to Instagram to let everyone know that she'd had no choice but to miss a show after being diagnosed with pharyngitis, an inflammation at the back of her throat.

But fortunately for fans she's back on stage today thanks to a dose of antibiotics.

Kerry, 37, posted on Instagram this morning, saying: "A big thank you to the most amazing cast for yesterday's show as I have Pharyngitis and was unable to perform!!! But back today on antibiotics"

Fans rushed to wish Kerry a speedy recovery.

She returned to Instagram two hours later to share a backstage selfie that showed her ready to hit the stage.

She said: "Very poorly but plodding alone!!! Xxxxxx"

"Get well soon kerry," one fan told her.

And another said: "Chin up smiler u can do it and get well soon"

While one commented: "Without sounding rude, u really do look poorly, but still beautiful"

It comes after Kerry was reportedly told to tone down her baddie performance as she was frightening the children watching the show.

According to reports, she's been so successful that she's scaring the wits out of the kiddies.

Indeed, children have been bursting into tears after seeing the star appear on stage dressed in a dramatic purple gown and black horns, claims the Daily Star .

“She’s been told by her bosses that she needs to tone it down a bit. She has gone over the top playing the baddie,” a friend of the singer told the newspaper.

“Kerry loves acting and throws herself into the role and she thought by being mean and loud the crowd would love it,” the source continued.

“But for some of the little ones it’s been too much and they’ve burst into tears. Mums have had to take them out of the show to console them,” the source continued.

“As a mum herself, Kerry is a little mortified by this. The last things she wants is to be seen to be upsetting little kids. So she’s agreed to be less scary,” the friend added.

Kerry - who has five kids - is hoping to use her experience in panto as a springboard to dive into a role on TV.

The star reportedly thinks she has what it takes to land a role in Coronation Street - which would see her follow in the footsteps of other chart stars including Kym Marsh, Shayne Ward and Sarah Harding to have a jaunt down the cobbles.
