Several Dalit organisations supported this protest.

Water Resources Minister M B Patil who visited the spot, has announced a relief of Rs 8 lakh from the government and Rs 5 lakh from his own end to the victim's family.

The family withdrew its protest soon after, it is learnt. But some sources said that the family is continuing with its protest.
