Who will be the Broncos starting QB on Sunday at Washington? The mystery continues.

Broncos GM John Elway on Tuesday said he believes it’ll all be decided by the end of the week. And despite the fact that everyone admits Brock Osweiler played well against the Colts, the decision basically hinges on the health of Paxton Lynch.

Beat writer Nicki Jhabvala in Tuesday’s Lunch Special live chat voiced concerns over the idea of starting Lynch against the Redskins. “Osweiler had a heck of a game at Indianapolis,” Jhabvala wrote. “And to deny him the start after that could send mixed messages: Are they really about winning if they show they just want to see Lynch play?”

One thing is clear right now. We do know the identity of the Broncos third-string QB. That’s Jordan “Sunshine” Taylor. In fact, not only is he the Broncos third option under center, he’s also a wide receiver, a punt returner and now an emergency fill-in at safety. Nicki Jhabvala took at look at the Broncos most versatile player.

They Said It

“Brock played well. It would be hard to say he didn’t play well. It’s proof in the film there, but we have a lot of things going on as far as the quarterback deal. We want to see Paxton play some, so that’s the truth. We have to see where he is as a player moving into the offseason — that’s important for our football team moving forward. We have to discuss it. Again, we want to make sure he is totally healthy so he can play and play well if he does play.”
— Vance Joseph, Broncos head coach
