MALKANGIRI: In a second incident of Red terror in two days, Maoists brutally killed a tribal man in Piplapadar village of Nakamamudi panchyat within Chitrakonda police limits on Tuesday late night after branding him as a police informer. He was identified as 35-year-old Sadhu Khemudu.
The rebels also torched four vehicles of a construction firm protesting an ongoing road work at Nilapadri village under Chitrakonda block on the day.

As per reports, about 20-30 armed Maoists went to Pipalapadar village at about 11.30 pm on Tuesday night and barged into the house of Khemudu. The rebels woke up the victim and asked him at gun point to follow them. They then took Khemudu to the nearby forest where he was produced before a Praja court for trial. Later, the rebels killed Khemudu by slitting his throat. Khemudu’s body was found in a pool of blood on the village outskirts on Wednesday morning.

In a separate incident, the Naxals raided a camp of a construction company at Nilapari village and asked the workers to leave the site immediately. Soon after, they torched the vehicles at the camp protesting a road work which was underway before fleeing. The vehicles that were charred include one JCV machine and three tractors.

Sources said work on the 18-km long Pradhan  Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana road project comprising two ridges that connect Nilapari and Ambliguda under Korukonda block is in progress. Cuttack-based PD Infrastructure and local contractor Ratikant Chhotray are involved in laying the road.

On Monday late night, the Red rebels had killed Muya Kawasi on charges of being a police informer charges after keeping him hostage for two days. The body of Kawasi was found on the main road of Galiaguda village of Mahupadar panchyat on Tuesday morning.

Similarly on Sunday night, the Maoists had raided a camp of a construction firm at Bonda hill under Khairput block and torched eight vehicles protesting the ongoing road work.
