Naval warships at Porbandar draw large crowds
RAJKOT: Indian Naval warships from western Naval Fleet-INS Kochi and INS Bhramputra visited Porbandar port as a part of Indian Navy day celebration and visitors got an opportunity to go inside these warships. Indian Navy at Porbandar organized ‘Ship Open to Visitors’ from 23 and 24th December and ‘A day at sea for families’ was organized on Monday.
As per Indian Navy communique INS Bhramputra- the 125 m long indigenously built guided missile frigate ship- and INS Kochi- the 163 M long Kolkota class stealth guided-Missile destroyer were a major attraction for the visitors.
During the two day event INS Kauruva, InS Trinkant and InS vidyut were also open to visitors.
In a media brief Indian Navy stated that “The visitors were taken onboard in batches and the enthusiastic crew briefed them about the roles and responsibilities of the Indian Navy. Details about the firing range, lethal power and depth of attack were also explained to the inquisitive visitors.”
During the two day event the ships witnessed more than 12000 visitors from civil administration, central & state government organizations, students of schools & colleges, NCC and SCC of Porbandar, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Ahmedabad.
