Hit-and-run: Cantonment woman, Alipur man crushed
NEW DELHI: Two separate hit-and-run incidents occurred at Delhi Cantonment and Alipur on Tuesday. In the first, a 46-year-old woman was fatally knocked down by an unknown vehicle; in the second, a 44-year-old man bled to death after being hit by an unknown vehicle.
Police said the woman was hit at Gopinath market, Delhi Cantonment, around 6.30pm. Police received a call from a passerby about her lying in a pool of blood.
A police team went to the spot and took her to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
The woman was identified as Anu from an identity card found on her. She worked at a private company and lived in Sagarpur with her husband and children. Her family was informed and the body handed over to them after autopsy. They told the police that she had left home to see a friend to sort out some marital issue that person had been facing.
The second incident occurred a few hours later at Alipur where one Devi Lal was knocked down by a speeding vehicle. He lay on the road bleeding until a police team on patrol spotted him and took him to BJRM hospital where he was declared brought dead. The family was contacted and Lal’s body handed over after postmortem.
Two cases under IPC sections were registered. Police were scanning CCTV footage of the areas to find out the vehicles that were involved in the accidents.
