Girl recovered from Delhi-Haryana border; family alleges religious conversion and rape

AGRA: A 22-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by one Junaid Niaz Ansari two-and-a-half months back was “rescued” from Delhi-Haryana border on Wednesday. Junaid has been booked on charges of kidnapping and rape.
The girl’s mother had alleged that her daughter was sexually assaulted by the suspect after forcing her to “convert” her religion and marrying her.
Talking to TOI, sub inspector, Kotwali, Mainpuri, Dhirendra Singh Bhaudoria said that besides charges of rape and kidnapping the suspect has also been booked under the SC/ST Act.
He said that he was produced in the court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
SP, Mainpuri Rajesh S said that the girl’s family has made no written statement about her forceful religious conversion.
According to police, the girl, a resident of Kotwali area in Mainpuri district had been missing since October 14 and her family registered a complaint, alleging that one of her friends, Pinky Rathore, was involved in her kidnapping. When the police had contacted her, she had revealed Junaid’s contact number to them.
Police was able to trace the location of his mobile number, and the girl was recovered from his custody from Tikri area of Delhi-Haryana border. The Girl’s father is reportedly a subedar in army and posted in J&K.

Talking to media, the girl’s mother Prabha devi said that her daughter told her that she met Junaid in Agra a few months back and since then she was in touch with him on phone. She claimed that on October 14, Junaid asked her daughter to come out of the house and he then took her to Delhi with his friends where he had forcefully changed her religion in a mosque and married her. She also alleged that Junaid wanted to sell her off.
Junaid belongs to Jalesar town in Etah district and works in a shoe factory in Delhi. The girl’s statement has so far not been recorded, as she was said to be in depression.
