Woman hit to death in Shahdara

LAHORE: A 70-year-old woman, unidentified so far, was killed by a speeding car in the Shahdara Town area on Sunday. The woman was crossing a road when a rashly-driven car hit and killed her. The body has been removed to morgue.

Headless body found: The headless body of a man was found in the River Ravi on Sunday. It was suspected that some persons might have murdered the man, yet to be identified, and dumped his body in the river after cutting off the head. Chung police have removed the body to the morgue.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old youth, unidentified so far, was found dead in the Manga Mandi area. Passersby spotted the body floating in a canal and informed police. It was yet to be established whether he had committed suicide by jumping into the canal or somebody drowned him.

suicide: A 32-year-old man committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Mustafa Abad area. The man, Naveed, took poisonous pills over an unknown issue and his condition went critical. He was taken to hospital where he expired.

Man drowns: A 30-year old man drowned in a pond in the Gujarpura area on Sunday. The victim, yet to be identified, accidentally fell into a pond excavated at a construction site and drowned. Body was removed to mortuary.

Emergency Service: Punjab Emergency Service Director General while presiding over a meeting of rescue officers at Rescue 1122 headquarters reviewed performance of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) during 2017.

The data revealed that Emergency Service rescued over 867,621 victims of different emergencies during year 2017. The DG reviewed the operational performance of Rescue 1122 for the year 2017, and emergency data revealed that total 867,621 victims had been rescued in 786,137 rescue operations, while maintaining its average response time of seven minutes and standard in all districts of Punjab. The Provincial Monitoring Cell (PMC) briefed DG Rescue Punjab that 262,837 road traffic accidents, 16,386 fire incidents, 401,736 medical emergencies, 22,091 crime incidents, 115 different types of explosions, seven bomb blasts, 1,096 cases of drowning, 580 building collapses and 83,017 miscellaneous incidents took place across the Punjab in 2017 and collectively, Emergency Service rescued 5,436,280 emergency victims by professionally managing of 4,705,328 rescue operations since inception of service which included 1,719,542 road traffic accidents, 2,268,310 medical emergencies, 103,149 fire emergencies, 7,185 building collapse, 169,178 crime incidents, 9,239 drowning cases, 1,412 different types of explosions and 427,313 miscellaneous incidents.
