Land mine recovered near Kuttippuram bridge in Malappuram
MALAPPURAM: Police have recovered a land mine which is similar to that of being used by military force, near Bharathappuzha bridge on NH 66, at Kuttippuram on Friday.
A special bomb squad of police which visited the spot shifted the explosive object to the Malabar Special Police Camp at Malappuram for detailed examination. It is learnt that a team of National Security Guard(NSG) will visit Malappuram on Saturday for detailed examination of the recovered object.
After the incident a team of senior police officials, including Thrissur range IG P K Ajthkumar, district police chief in-charge Prathessh Kumar visited the spot.

The DSP of Tirur, V A Ullas said that the abandoned object was first noticed by a local person on Thursday night and police have recovered the object on that night itself. “The detailed examination conducted by the experts of Bomb squad of police found that the object is a land mine. But we suspect that the object was not planted by someone but it was abandoned. The colour and shape of the explosive object is similar to that of land mine which are being used by Indian army”, he said adding that the object was recovered from river bed which is around 50 metres away from the Kuttippuram bridge.
The police team conducted a detailed search of the area and no other electronic objects were recovered.
