“With continued emphasis on welfare, development, and good governance, my government has delivered, resulting in marked improvement in the quality of life,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said.
Addressing the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme at Dharmasagaram near Narsipatnam on Friday, he said, before his government came, the administration was in disarray.
Underlining the importance of making proper use of the resources, he said that under NREGA, panchayat, anganwadi, and school buildings, playgrounds, farm ponds, and burial grounds were being constructed and improved.
“Villages are getting CC roads and LED lighting. If one light doe not function, I will come to know of it immediately,” he said.
The aim of the government was to provide good governance, address economic imbalances, reduce poverty, and provide services at the doorstep of people, the Chief Minister said. Service standards would be laid down and monitored, he added.
As a result of the efforts of the government, the number of complaints during Janmabhoomi had come down, he claimed.
Redress of grievances
In the Janmabhoomi, more importance was being given to redress grievances, dividing them into individual and societal, and financial and non-financial, he said, and added that he was reviewing them every evening and morning.
To provide housing to all, 19 lakh units would be constructed in the next one-and-a-half years by spending ₹50,000 crore. For 2.5 lakh units, ‘gruhapravesam’ would be performed on a single day, creating a world record.
Issues related to farmers like supply of power, seed, and micro-nutrients were addressed. As a result of which, the yield increased, he said. If water for irrigation was assured, it would be stabilised, he added.
Responding to Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao’s plea, he announced that he had no objection for sanctioning an SEZ in the Narsipatnam area, but another 700 acres was needed as 1,000 acres was required for an SEZ.
Water project
He vowed to take up the ₹2,500 crore Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi, for which he had laid foundation in September last. On completion, it would provide irrigation to 1.5 lakh acres. The second phase also would be taken up.
He also assured to sanction ₹5 crore each to Narsipatnam and Elamanchili municipalities, widening of roads in Narsipatnam, and upgrading Pedaboddepalli gurukul school to junior college, responding to a request by Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu.
Complimenting the effort of Mr. Patrudu’s wife Padmavathi in making Dharmasagaram, which she adopted, a smart village, he assured support to her and sanctioned a water scheme for it.
The Anakapalle MP urged that a railway line linking Narsipatnam to Kottavalasa be formed to spur economic development.
Ms. Padmavati gave details of the progress made in the four villages adopted by her, Mr. Patrudu, and their sons.
