2 youths escape from police custody in Jamui
MUNGER: The two youths who were arrested with arms and ammunition on Saturday escaped sometime on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday in Jamui district.
Khaira police station SHO Daljeet Jha said on Sunday that Avinash Kumar, a resident of Mangartola and Shailesh Kumar Verma, resident of Naya Bazar area under Lakhisarai police station of Lakhisarai district, were handed over to the police by the villagers of Jhundo with one country-made pistol and four live cartrides.
The youths fled from police station’s lock up by breaking open the ventilator.
"The arrested youths while moving in a suspicious manner in Jhundo were caught hold by the villagers suspecting that they were planning to abduct a girl of the village, they handed them over to the police. On search, one pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from their possession,” said Jha.
Villagers alleged that the arrested youths had also planned to kill the parents if they protested the abduction bid of the girl. Jha said, “Avinash has confessed before police that he had gone to Jhundo to meet his girlfriend but the villagers caught him with his friend.”
“We have started raids and expect that the two youths will be nabbed very soon,” said Jha.
