People are dying from extreme heat, which is also killing a large number of chickens and destroying tea plants
The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around 1:30am on Monday, said Gopalganj Sadar Police Station SI Shawkat Hossain.
One of the dead has been identified as driver Sheikh Shahin, 48. A woman of about 35 years of age was the other victim who died. Police have yet to identify her.
A Banaful Transport bus was headed from Dhaka to Khulna when it collided head-on with a freight truck carrying electrical wires headed in the opposite direction. Two were killed on the spot.
Ten others were injured in the incident. They were rescued by police and fire service staff and sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.
