Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue dept saves property worth RM66.9m

LAHAD DATU: The Fire and Rescue Station here salvaged property worth RM66,902,195.78 from fires in the district between Jan and Dec last year.
Its chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood said the station responded to 95 fire calls involving losses amounting to RM6,636,165.22 within the period.
"Last year we received 148 search and rescue operation calls; six lives were saved while 19 victims were reported to have died," he told reporters when met here today.
Meanwhile, he said residents should keep at least one fire extinguisher in the house. — Bernama
