The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) has alerted the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other relevant agencies in the oil and gas sector of the return of fuel queues at Petrol stations nationwide, and to appeal to stakeholders to stem the tide early enough in national interest.
A statement signed by Austin Braimah, Coordinator and Cassidy Madueke, Secretary on Sunday said BMSG acknowledges the commitments and efforts put in place by NNPC and its subsidiaries in addressing the problem of acute shortage of fuel, experienced across the federation last month, appealing to them to deploy same tricks they used in addressing the problem, this time.
The statement said, “Our group is confident and re-assured of the plans already put in place by NNPC to food the market in the first quarters of this year with 1.93 billion liters already in store, while we look forward to a fulfillment of the promise by the authorities.
“We also implore stakeholders in the oil and gas sector not to yield an inch of ground to saboteurs with links to political opponents who may want to derail the good plans by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to attain stability in the sector
It said “As 2018 stands out as a year of intense politics and politicking, we enjoin all well meaning Nigerians to continue to lend support to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari for a smooth transition of power, while not allowing saboteurs in the oil and gas sector to derail the plan with malice and ill feelings.
BMSG commended the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, for blazing the trail and leading the onslaught to checkmate the machinations of hoarders of fuel and other saboteurs in clearing the long queues at Petrol stations as witnessed days ago.
“Essentially, in national interest, we appeal to the Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association (PTD) not to work at cross purposes with the government and NNPC in their efforts to address the peculiar challenges confronting the oil and gas sector in Nigeria,”the group said.
It said Nigerians should appreciate, commend and stand by President Buhari on his rejection of plans to increase the pump price of fuel beyond N145, a reason every effort he continues to make in that regard should be widely supported.
