16-year-old Tumakuru boy saves many in his death
BENGALURU: A 16-year-old second PUC student from Tumkur who died in a road accident became savior for many lives.
Manohar (name changed), a pillion rider with his father riding with his father on Tumkur-Kunigal highway on January 12 met with a road accident when a drunkard man suddenly came from opposite side and hit their vehicle. The father, who was riding the bike lost balance and majorly injured was Manohar, a pillion rider.
The father also sustained minor injuries.
The duo was immediately rushed to the Kunigal government hospital. He was further taken to NIMHANS in Bengaluru, but was subsequently referred to a private hospital. After a week, they were shifted to Aster CMI hospital, where Manohar was declared brain dead on January 18. The family consented for organ donation.
His liver, left kidney were used for a 63-year-old man and his left kidney for a 26-year-old man in Aster CMI hospital. His right kidney was used for a 55-year-old man in Apollo hospital. His corneas were sent to Narayana Netralaya.
Manohar’s was the third cadaver donation in the state in 2018.
