Wanted shooter of Punjab arrested by Firozabad police
The kingpin of the gang Lawrence Bishnoi had earlier issued a threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
FIROZABAD: Wanted shooter of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Ravinder alias Kali Rajput was arrested in an alleged ‘encounter’ on Thursday evening in Shikohbad area of Firozabad, while his two associate managed to flee away.
The kingpin of the gang Lawrence Bishnoi had earlier issued a threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Kali was hiding in Jai Shiv guest house in the industrial area of Shikohabad police jurisdiction.
He was wanted by Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan police.
Kali was arrested on Thursday afternoon, but later in evening, police took him near Bhudda canal bridge to apprehend his two associates, who allegedly fried shots at police. According to police, during this encounter, Kali tried to flee away in cross fire but was shot in his leg, though his associates managed to flee away. In the encounter, two SOG (Special operation group) team members including constable Rajveer and Nadeem sustain minor injuries after hit by bullet pellet.
Hailing from Mohali, Punjab, Kali was booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) and 25 arms act. On Friday, a police team from Punjab came Firozabad to interrogate Kali, later he was taken to court and was sent for remand for next 14 days.
Station officer of Shikohabad, Rupesh Kumar said, “We have recovered one .32 calibre pistol and a country-made pistol from Kali. A SUV has also been seized from the guest house. The shooter Kali was among the most wanted criminals in Punjab, on whom the police had kept Rs 1,00,000 reward.”
The absconding associates of Kali have been identified as Gabbar Yadav of North Delhi and Akash Yadav of Shikohabad, who provided local hideout to Kali.
