Karimnagar is an ideal place for entrepreneurs to set up their companies and it is all set to emerge as the second biggest urban conglomerate in the State after Hyderabad, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed said.
The Collector interacted with British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming who visited Karimnagar town on Saturday. The visiting dignitary also interacted with Municipal Commissioner K. Sashanka, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh and others during his day-long visit.
The Collector said that the Karimnagar town was becoming a Smart City with the Centre and State government funds and with the support of the people.
Ample resources
The town was having ample resources including the picturesque LMD reservoir and the district emerging as irrigation hub of state with the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, he said. The government was developing the Manair River Front and constructing the first cable-stayed bridge across the river Manair, he added.
The town would emerge as the second biggest city after Hyderabad in the coming few years, Mr. Sarfaraz said and explained the government welfare programmes and the supply of 24x7 power supply to farmers.
Smart City
Later, the British diplomat visited the Municipal office in the town. Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka made a presentation about the Smart city programme and other developmental programmes.
Mr. Andrew Fleming expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Smart city in Karimnagar town. He also tried his hands on the open gym facilities installed on the premises of the Municipal office. Mayor S Ravinder Singh, legislators G. Kamalakar and V. Satish Kumar, British deputy commissioner in Hyderabad Pravalika Inala and others were present.
