‘Very blessed’ woman escapes injury when tree comes down on home in Marshall Township

Crews called to the scene early Tuesday morning

A woman described herself as being “very blessed” after a tree fell on her home in Marshall Township because she wasn’t hurt and, she says, her home still had electricity after the incident. Ruth Coon said the tree came down around 2:30 a.m. at her home on Warrendale Bakerstown Road. “I got awakened by a loud crash and a bump,” said Coon. “Then I got up and started to walk around the house to see what I could see and when I looked out the bathroom window I could see tree limbs.” The tree came down as heavy rain and winds moved through the Pittsburgh area early Tuesday.Coon said she grew up in the house and remembered a time when a tree fell on the property and hit a chimney back when her parents were the owners.
