An undertrial flees from police custody in UP's Ballia district

VARANASI: An accused of dowry killing managed to escape from police custody from the court premises in Ballia district on Wednesday. He was brought to the court for hearing. A manhunt was launched to nab him.
According to reports, an undertrial Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, resident of Dalai Tiwaripur village in Rasra police station area of Ballia district, was brought to the district court for hearing in a dowry killing case. He went to the toilet from where he managed to flee.
The police swung into action and launched a manhunt to nab him.
Police also checked the CCTV footage in which he was seen going away. The Ballia SP Anil Kumar also reached there after getting information. Terming it as negligence in duty by escorting police personnel, he said that appropriate action would be taken in this regard.
